Yeah...Hardly any shoemakers around here any more.

I like to fix things that can be fixed and not throw things out. But so many things aren't fixable any more.

And then there are the things that maybe "should" be replaced but don't seem to die. In our case, that is our TV which is 22 years old. It has a good picture, but it doesn't do the wide screen, digital, and it isn't compatible with DVDs, etc.

That's fantastic. I really hate the disposable society and that many things are made now to last such a short time. Our refrigerator repairman told me (after he was out for the 5th time in a year to fix our new fridge) that appliances are now made to last about 5 years. I like our 25 year old washer & dryer & freezer just fine:)
